Where Does Imagination Come From?

As I was working on this chapter and asking colleagues to look it over, several mentioned that, while it seemed natural for me to come up with these ideas, it wasn’t so easy for them. I firmly believe that everyone has the imagination to develop ideas that are every bit as good as mine. The trick is unlocking your creativity and bringing it to life. Here are some ways to do this that have worked for me and others.

1. First, and foremost, don’t go it alone. Gather your colleagues around you and brainstorm ideas. Free-associate the concepts you need to convey with corresponding visual images that pop into your head.
