SMIL is, partly because of its size and complexity, penetrating the multimedia market fairly slowly. SMIL resources remain relatively few. Here are a few:
The SMIL home page on the W3C Web site (http://www.w3.org/AudioVideo/) is updated on an ongoing basis and will keep you up to date with available tools, and so on.
The RealOne Player (http://www.realnetworks.com/solutions/ecosystem/realone.html?src=rnhmfs) is a multimedia player built on SMIL.
The GRiNs SMIL 2.0 Editor (http://www.oratrix.com/Products/G2R) is a powerful, but not cheap, SMIL tool.
