RING FLASHES ARE commonly used in the fashion industry to create a glamorous look. The traditional approach to using them is to position the subject close to a wall, then get very close to the subject’s face with the camera and flash. The resulting shadows from the ring flash surround the subject and make them pop from the background. Ring flashes create a really cool catch light in your subject’s eye, so many photographers like to get very close to the subject to maximize the look.
