It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
11. SPEEDLIGHT: SIX-FLASH RING LIGHT
THIS PROJECT ONLY works if you have a bunch of flashes. I own quite a few small strobes, so I was able to tape them together to produce this very powerful ring light. If you don’t own six flashes, you can purchase inexpensive speedlights on Amazon.com for about $25 each. Putting them all together in this arrangement results in very powerful ring flash for a “low” price of about $150. A commercially available ring flash from Metz or Quantum costs $400 to $1,000.
