PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHERS LOVE using beauty dishes because of the specific look they generate in their images. A beauty dish produces an edgy, crisp light that shows a lot of detail on a subject’s face. It can be used to accentuate high cheekbones, curves, and texture.
This project will save you hundreds (yes, hundreds) of dollars over a commercially available beauty dish and is almost equally as durable. I’ve made this one out of a giant stainless steel bowl and mounted it with a very strong metal bracket. You shouldn’t be afraid of taking this project on the road.
