Working in the dark is a very different experience for most photographers. Camera controls we can easily find in the day become lost at night. Spend some time getting to know your camera. Familiarize yourself with the location of the commonly adjusted settings, such as White Balance, ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed. Also, be sure to know how to view your histogram. Many modern cameras offer the option of using the rear LCD to view and change shooting functions. Press the “Q” button (Quick Control) on a Canon or the “i” button (Information) on a Nikon to make use of this valuable option.
