I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Why Paint with Light?
Painting with light is magical. There is no other light source quite like it. The flashlight allows for the creation of effects impossible with any other type of light source. You can control how long the beam strikes the subject, which angle it comes from, the color and softness of the light, and most important, which parts of the scene will be illuminated. Obtaining this level of control over other light sources would be costly, complex, unwieldy, and in many cases, simply not possible.
The real beauty of light painting is in the crafting of the light. You are the artist. The conductor. Few other forms of photography allow this level of creativity in shaping your subject. The flashlight becomes your brush and the scene ...
