One significant reason that visual social marketing has become popular is that it has been shown to drive traffic to websites. Many businesses participate in social marketing to drive traffic to their blogs or websites, and compelling website images can translate into more traffic from social networks.
A trend that has emerged across social networks — including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn — is that images are being given more prominence, especially when links to websites are shared. When you share a website, you post a link to the website on a social network. For example, if I share a link to the website of a new café that I love, Facebook shows the link to the website and also displays the image from the web page beside the link.
Because images from web pages are shown on social networks, websites must have high-quality images to enhance posts and generate more clicks, which leads to more traffic.
