Introducing the Windows Recovery Environment
A useful troubleshooting tool that can bring your computer back to life is safe mode. Windows 11 has several safe modes, and in this chapter I explain the differences between them. Most people won’t need more than two safe modes, thank goodness!
Unlike in the days of the ill-famed Windows 8, you no longer enter safe mode by pressing F8 during the boot process. The procedure is now a lot more complicated. You also have more ways to start safe mode.
Furthermore, Windows provides a Recovery Environment that starts automatically after Windows fails to successfully boot three times in a row. Therefore, if you find yourself in a pinch and unable to use Windows, the Windows Recovery Environment might save you. In this chapter, I show you how to access this environment and give you a brief description of the tools included. You may find them useful!
