ActiveX Controls
Even as recently as two or three years ago, Web page designers often had to write active Web page content in C or C++ to embed Web browsing technology in applications. No longer is that the case. Many Web-based ActiveX controls now appear in Web applications, and the trend is increasing. An ActiveX control is a small program, compiled into an ActiveX object that conforms to specific browser requirements, that you can embed inside any ActiveX control reader container. Many Windows applications support ActiveX technology so that you can extend the application by inserting the ActiveX control into the application.
