Thus, box-and-whisker plots can be used to identify outliers. They can also be used to
determine the skewness of a distribution. If median is located in the left side of the box, then the
distribution is right skewed, and if the median is located on the right side of the box, the distri-
bution is left skewed. If the median is located in the middle of the box, then the distribution is
symmetrical. The length of the whisker on both the sides of the box can also be used to judge
the skewness of the outer values. If the whisker is longest to the right side of the box, then outer
