I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Netflix Zuul
Netflix Zuul is a popular Edge gateway popularized by Netflix and then offered as part of Spring Cloud. Zuul means gatekeeper and performs all those functions, including authentication, traffic control, and most importantly, routing, as discussed earlier. It is well-integrated with Eureka and Hystrix in looking up services and reporting metrics. The services in an enterprise or a domain can be frontended by Zuul.
Let's put a Zuul gateway in front of our product service:
- Create a new Maven project and set its artifact ID as zuul-server.
- Edit the POM file and add the following:
1. Set the parent as spring-boot-starter-parent
2. Set the dependency on spring-cloud-starter-zuul, -eureka, and -web projects
3. Set dependency management ...
