Local cache

The local cache is present in the same JVM as that of the service. Its scope is limited as it can be accessed by the service instance and has to be entirely managed by the service instance.

Let's start by making our products cacheable in a local cache.

Spring 3.1 introduced its own notations for returning cached entries, evicting, or populating entries. But later on, JSR 107 JCache introduced different notations. Spring 4.1 and higher supports these as well.

Let's use the Spring notations to begin with:

1. Tell the Spring application to enable caching and look for cacheable instances. This is a one-time declaration and hence is best done in the start-up class. Add the @EnableCaching annotation into the main class:
