System API
Key enterprise resources or systems of records need to be opened or exposed as a set of APIs for all downstream systems to build logic/experience around these services. For green field projects, system APIs typically represent the system of records or data stores that are being developed as part of the functionality. When it comes to enterprises, the system API represents all the enterprise systems, such as core enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, operational data stores, mainframe applications, or many commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products, such as customer relationship management (CRM), and so on that run the core processes of the enterprise.
