Rooke's work also shows very clearly how the metaphors attached to the
breeding process inform its products. The increasingly "spatial" nature of
Rooke's images resonates strongly with the other linked spaces he discussesmim-
age hyperspace, inner imaginary space, and McKenna's "invisible landscape." In
fact it seems that Rooke's images in some sense depict the very "space" he imag-
ines them to inhabit. As well, his images operate literally as spaces, spaces in
themselves. A vast, high-resolution print of the image swallows the viewer up:
