8.5.7 galSim
For the purposes of development and testing, a program called galSim that simu-
lates the movements of a number of people as they navigate an artificial gallery
space was written. This program is used to provide the genetic algorithm with au-
tomatically generated fitness values (Figure 8.7), making it possible to run exper-
iments with the system outside of the gallery setting. This makes unnecessary the
difficult task of recruiting patient volunteers to "interact" with the system while
the code is fine-tuned.
