Analysis is the first phase of the ADDIE model. It involves analyzing the business problem or opportunity and the work environment to determine whether training is needed. Factors considered include job performance requirements, current levels of knowledge and skill, work processes, and learning constraints. Differentiators related to analysis include the focus of technical training, what triggers the need for it, the planning horizon, the use of formal and informal learning methods, and the use of e-learning.
