When deploying operating systems manually, one may not be aware that for OS deployment, one thing that is needed is Windows PE. The CD installer is prepared in such a way that Windows PE is loaded at the beginning, and in the next step, it runs the OS installer.
Hence, when deploying operating systems, the administrator needs to prepare the Windows PE image as well as the operating system image. During the installation process, ConfigMgr automatically creates images with Windows PE x86 and x64.
