It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Configuring boundary groups
After creating boundaries, the next step is creating boundary groups. Boundary groups are used to point the clients to their assigned management point, distribution point, and software update point.
There might be more than one boundary assigned to a boundary group. ConfigMgr 1706 introduces a new boundary group type: Site-Default-Boundary-Group<site code>. It is automatically created when a server is installed. When no boundary group is created, all boundaries are assigned to the default boundary group. For this reason, for this group, a management point, distribution point, and software update point should be assigned.
