The Linear Scoping Phase is the initiation of the project. It is here that the customer and the project manager come together to define the project at the highest levels. The process of defining encompasses four major tasks:

  • Solution definition

  • Requirements gathering

  • Customer sign-off on requirements

  • Writing the Project Overview Statement (POS)
