Better HMDs
The HMDs we have today, things such as the HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift, the PS VR, and mobile-based VR devices such as the Samsung Gear VR, the Google Daydream, and Google Cardboard, are pretty good, but they can be a lot better.
The human eye can't really be compared to a pixel display, although we know for sure that we see more detail than any current HMDs can show. We also have a wider field of view.
Current displays are roughly similar in view; 1,080 x 1,200 pixels with about 110 degrees field of view. That gives us roughly 10 to 15 pixels per degree. The human eye can see anywhere from 500 to about 1,000 pixels per inch at ten inches; this gives us about 90 to 177 pixels per degree. This will mean a nearly 20,000 or 40,000 ...
