Eye tracking
What is the eye tracking that I alluded to earlier? It is a sensor inside the HMD that looks at where your eyeballs are pointed. There are a few advantages to this kind of scanning, mainly social and rendering.
Social advantages are immense, in my opinion. When you look at someone's avatar, which is an in–game representation of another person, they can look very stiff and emotionless. Human beings detect an immense amount of emotion from their eyes; with eye tracking, your avatar can show some of these expressions. One simple test showed a dramatic improvement by simply putting cartoon eyeballs—just a black dot in a white ball—and have those eyes look around as the user was looking.
