Graphics cards get faster as well as cheaper all the time. In five years, we will need every ounce of that processing power to generate a display with the same visual complexity as we have now—not any better looking—due to the increase in pixels. In other words, as displays go up in pixels, making for better and wider displays, the amount of processing power to drive those goes up too, so there isn't as much of an increase in visual fidelity as you would expect. Is there a light at the end of that tunnel? Or is the light at the end of the tunnel a train going the other way? There is good news, and it is called Foveated rendering. For that, we need eye tracking, which we'll discuss in a bit.
