Audio improvements
Most people, when it comes to VR audio, are worried about how well the headsets work, or if they block out the sound of your cat screeching when you sit down on the couch without taking off your HMD. (Let's hope not!) There is a lot more to VR audio though; our ears do an amazing thing with pinpointing where a sound is coming from with only two sensors (normally, it takes three sensors to detect both distance and direction of any 3D source). How do our ears do that? It's done with something called a HRTF. Currently, we do have the technology to calculate HRTFs in real time. However, what HRTF to calculate is not that easy to determine. This is no surprise; people are unique.
