So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Dynamic configuration – the Prometheus Operator
CoreOS was the pioneer in building a pattern called Operator, which abstracts the complexity of packaging, deployment, and the management of Kubernetes applications. The Operator synthesizes the knowledge required for the operation of an application (such as configuration and deploy logic) into Kubernetes custom resources and custom controllers.
A custom resource is an object that extends the Kubernetes API, allowing custom API definitions. Custom controller strives to achieve the user's required state for a resource, continuously working on maintaining such a state.
