Using this method, the guest virtual machines will be spun up but no provision will take place, so you'll need to set up the environment yourself with a hands-on approach. We won't go into detailed explanations of the available configuration files and command-line arguments – those will be thoroughly explored in the following chapters. So, as a high-level overview, for each software component, we are going to do the following:

• Set up basic networking between the virtual machines in the environment
• Create an individual system user
• Download and install the software
• Create support files and directories
• Start the daemon
