So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Write ahead log
While in memory, data is not persisted and could be lost if the process terminates abnormally. To prevent this scenario, a write-ahead log (WAL) in disk keeps the state of the in-memory data so that it can be replayed if Prometheus, for any reason, crashes or restarts.
