So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The offset modifier
The offset modifier allows you to query data in the past. This means that we can offset the query time of an instant or range vector selector relative to the current time. It is applied on a per-selector basis, which means that offsetting one selector but not another effectively unlocks the ability to compare current behavior with past behavior for each of the matched time series. To use this modifier, we need to specify it right after the selector and add the offset time; for example:
