8.6 Installing the Oracle client
As discussed in 8.1, “Scenario overview” on page 358, the Oracle client is
installed on machine 2 where WebSphere Portal is installed. WebSphere Portal
accesses the database server which is on machine 3 via the Oracle client. This
section describe the methods we used for the Oracle client installation and
configuration. For detailed information about the Oracle client, please refer to the
documentation from Oracle 9i CD for more detail.
