When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
While there is some commonality between the types of long-range communication technologies, they also are targeting different use cases and segments. The IoT architect should choose wisely which long-range system they intend to adopt. Like other components of the IoT system, the LPWAN is difficult to change once deployed. Considerations in picking the correct LPWAN include:
- What data rate does the IoT deployment need to use?
- Can the solution scale with the same LPWAN across regions? Is there proper coverage or does it need to be built?
- What range of transmission is appropriate?
- Is there any latency requirement for this IoT solution? Can the solution work with very high (multiple seconds) latencies?
- Are the IoT endpoints battery powered ...
