When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
IEEE 802.11 operation
As mentioned previously, an STA is considered a device equipped with a wireless network interface controller. An STA will always be listening for active communication in a specific channel. The first phase of connecting to Wi-Fi is the scanning phase. There are two types of scan mechanisms employed:
- Passive scanning: This form of scanning uses beacons and probe requests. After a channel is selected, the device performing the scan will receive beacons and probe requests from nearby STAs. An access point may transmit a beacon, and if the STA receives the transmission, it may progress to join the network.
- Active scanning: In this mode, the STA will attempt to locate an access point by instantiating probe requests. This ...
