When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Sigfox physical layer
As mentioned previously, Sigfox is Ultra Narrow Band (UNB). As the name implies, the transmission uses a very narrow channel for communication. Rather than spreading the energy across a wide channel, a narrow slice of that energy is confined to these bands:
- 868 MHz: Europe (ETSI 300-200 regulations)
- 902 MHz: North America (FCC part 15 regulations)
Some regions such as Japan have strict spectral density limitations currently making ultra narrowband difficult to deploy.
The band is 100 Hz in width and uses Orthoganol Sequence Spread Spectrum (OSSS) for the uplink signal and 600 Hz using Gaussian Frequency Shift Keying (GFSK) for the downlink. Sigfox will send a short packet on a random channel at a random time delay ...
