Setting Up for Maps

There are a few things that need to be done before you can successfully add maps to your app. The first is to load the Google Play Services SDK into your workspace. Select Window > Android SDK Manager. The SDK Manager window opens and shows a list of available SDKs. Scroll through this list until you find the Extras folder. Within this folder, find and check the box next to Google Play Services (Figure 7.1). Click the Install X Packages button. There may be more than just the one package you selected. Some packages have dependencies on other packages, and the SDK manager will want to install any package updates.
