Printer Configuration and Printing

Synopsis

Configure a printer?

Print Center (/Applications/Utilities) click on the Add button in the Printer List window, or select Printer Add Printer From the menu bar. Select how the printer is connected using the pull-down menu (AppleTalk, Directory Services, IP Printing, or USB).

  • If you select AppleTalk, select the zone (if any) using the second pull-down menu, choose the printer in the lower pane, and then click the Add button.

  • If you select Directory Services, you can choose between printing via Rendezvous or to a printer listed in the NetInfo Network. Select the printer name, and then click the Add button.

  • If you select IP Printing, you need to fill in the IP address of the printer. Select the printer model and click the Add button.

  • If you select USB, choose the name of the printer and the printer model, then click the Add button.

View the jobs in the print queue?

Print Center double-click on the name of the printer to see the print queue

Cancel a print job?

Print Center double-click on the printer name click on the name of the print job click on the Delete button

Halt a print job?

Print Center double-click on the printer name click on the name of the print job click on the Hold button. (Click on the Resume button to start the job where it left off.)

Share the printer that’s connected to my Mac with another user?

System Preferences Sharing Services; click on the checkbox next to Printer Sharing.
