Scalability
The 64-bit versions of Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition and Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition, available for Intel Itanium systems, enable high-end processing such as 3-D graphics, e-commerce, and multimedia. The addressable memory limit is increased, which allows more memory to be installed per machine. This reduces the amount of paging, increasing system throughput. The management tools are compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of the operating systems, via a Distributed Component Object Model (DCOM) or SOAP interface.
