Panther’s New Keyboard Shortcuts Preferences Pane
Mac OS X Panther’s new Keyboard Shortcuts preferences pane made its debut in Panther. With it, you can specify keyboard shortcuts for individual application menu items as well as for many system features. These shortcuts can override the original keyboard equivalents, offering exact user customization. The pane, which appears as part of the Keyboard & Mouse preferences, can be accessed by following these steps:
Launch the System Preferences application by clicking on its icon in the Dock or by choosing

→ System Preferences.
Click on the Keyboard & Mouse preferences icon.
The Keyboard & Mouse preferences contain several subpanes, which depend on the type of Mac you’re using and whether or not you’re using a Bluetooth mouse or keyboard. Common panes include Keyboard, Mouse, and Keyboard Shortcuts, which can be accessed via the buttons at the top of the pane. Click on the Keyboard Shortcuts pane, which looks like Figure 8-2.
