LEGAL, ETHICAL, AND
REGULATORY ISSUES
Telehealth is affected by certain legal, ethical, and
regulatory issues of which nurses should be
aware. In the United States, interstate practice of
telenursing, for example, requires attending
nurses to be licensed to practice in all of the states
in which they provide telehealth services. This is
particularly important when nurses work for
health systems that are located near state borders
and draw patients from both states.
