During the 2013 Google I/O conference, one speaker announced that over 75% of all websites rely on PHP.[ 2 ] The W3Techs website regularly comes up with figures in a similar range, around 76.5% at the beginning of 2024.[ 3 ] This is impressive, and also deserved: PHP can do a lot, as we will demonstrate in this book.
However, the predominance of PHP also means that there is a confusing jungle of publications and books on PHP; perhaps you already have one or two works in your bookcase. So why another one on PHP?
