This is one of the oldest and simplest poses, but it can still be used to create top-notch images if you get it right. Start with both knees pointed down (cross legged) and try out various hand positions before you get your model to raise one knee and, once again, vary the position of her hands. You can then try raising both knees, and so on.
This gradual approach to changing positions prevents you from switching poses too quickly, and you are sure to learn plenty about the nuances you can create while you practice.
