Having your model look downward immediately steers the viewer’s gaze away from his face and toward his torso. Make sure this position doesn’t form a double chin and that his jawline remains visible. If he positions his hands close to his head, make sure his elbows point downward or to the side so that his arms don’t appear foreshortened. You can also use his arms to frame his torso and/or his abs. Space between his arms and his sides (see variation #2) emphasizes his waist.
