A reversed chair, a table, or your model’s own knees are just some of the things she can use to rest her elbows and frame her face. Let her move her arms freely and try things out. She can vary the height of her elbows or the position of her hands relative to her head. However, make sure she doesn’t look cramped, and make sure her elbows point downward or to the side. Her elbows should never point directly toward the camera. Doing so would make her upper and lower arms look unnaturally short.
