It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

In this pose, it is essential that your model sit diagonally to the camera. This ensures that her outfit remains in focus. If it were shot head-on, her arms, knees, and hands would obscure the view of her clothes. A diagonal position also helps to prevent foreshortening effects (see the Key Lesson on page 58), regardless of whether she rests her arms on her legs or on the chair.
