Photographing kids doesn’t always mean capturing cheesy smiles. Try to capture your subject looking surprised, serious, bored, or thoughtful. Try asking questions like, “What do you want to be when you are grown up?” “What’s your favorite food?” or “Who is your best friend?” Asking questions helps when you are photographing adults too—you just have to adjust the questions to suit the subject.
