Great! The problem of having a single large LUN seems to be solved, but what happens if you have
to grow that LUN? Since the RAID group is bound two ways—once across the individual RAID groups,
and once across the physical disks to create the RAID groups, you cannot simply add drives to the
configuration as it will provide an unbalanced configuration that will not perform predictably or
consistently. In order to grow the group, the RAID configuration across the LUNs has to be torn
down either new RAID groups created using the new and old disks, or a completely new RAID group
created and then the RAID configuration replaced on the new combinations of the disks. This works
