MediaAgent target and sends data directly to backup media that are locally attached, not to an external
MediaAgent. Since the throughput to the storage can easily exceed that available to the network,
especially given the shared nature of the network interfaces, the overall performance of the backup is
increased, the network and storage load of a long-term backup is removed from the general MediaAgent
with the potential net effect of all backups increasing in performance.
