It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

• Use synthetic full backup methods to make full backups at the central site from
replicated incremental backups.
• Use alternate technologies, such as source-based deduplication, to keep traffic at
a bare minimum.
• As a last resort, place local datazones in remote locations to fully run backups
locally, only passing reporting and management information over the connection.
The use of these different strategies will optimize as much as possible the utilization of the WAN
network connection.
