Chapter 4

Transmission Lines and Waveguides

This chapter provides an overview of technically important types of transmission lines. We will look in detail at the coaxial line and derive the transmission line parameters (characteristic impedance and propagation constant) mathematically based on fundamental physical considerations. For all other transmission line types we will pull together the most important facts in an illustrative manner.
