Supply Chain Applications
In addition to ERP and APS, there are several other kinds of applications that serve the needs of supply chain management. Figure 6.5 shows some of the key modules of a warehouse management system. As the diagram indicates, these packages focus primarily on operations, offering just enough planning functionality to smooth the flow of inventory through the facility. In addition, there are no modules for production because that's not a traditional function of warehouses, although this is beginning to change (see Chapter 15).
