The Bigger the Business, the Better
When you’re defining your business, try to present it in its
broadest terms. This will tend to make it more impressive. If
you’re going to own an idea, you may as well own as big an
idea as possible.
This was the case at a Silicon Valley company I visited
some years back, called Silicon Graphics.
As is so often the case, their problem was that of defining
their business. They had invented what they called “3-D
Computing.” This was no easy task, as it called for advanced
computer chips to deal with images rather than numbers or
