I promise, it’s not that scary.
I dedicated an entire chapter to this because it was one of my hang-ups in learning the principles of off-camera flash. I remember looking at all of the lights that people were using and just thinking, “I can’t even make one light look right; how on Earth do I do it with five lights?” I also thought there was a specific “positioning system” for three lights, and another specific system if you had four lights, five lights, and so on, which isn’t necessarily correct. Adding more lights is just as simple as looking at your picture and thinking, “Hmmmm, I wish I had some light right there,” and then placing a light in that spot.
